Scripture Reading – Romans 12:2 (KJV)
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

Devotional
The sermon reminded us: You don’t live a Christian life by accident. It must be lived on purpose. That begins in your mind. Proverbs 23:7 says, “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.” How you think shapes how you live.

Paul tells us two powerful commands in Romans 12:2:

  1. Be not conformed to this world. The world is constantly trying to squeeze your mind into its mold—through media, social networks, conversations, and even your own desires. If you passively take in the world’s messages, your thinking will slide “rapidly down the sewer,” as the sermon said.
  2. Be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Transformation doesn’t happen by trying harder in your own strength. It comes as God renews your mind through His Word. Scripture is like a spiritual “garbage disposal”: it grinds up lies, filth, and foolish thinking and sends them away, replacing them with truth.

When your mind is renewed, you can “prove”—discern, recognize, and live out—“that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” If your thoughts are saturated with the world, God’s will will seem strange and hard. If your thoughts are saturated with Scripture, God’s will will seem wise and right.

Reflection

  • What are the main “voices” shaping your thinking right now—God’s Word, or the world (news, shows, social media, etc.)?
  • Are there mental habits (worry, lust, envy, bitterness, constant distraction) that show you’ve been “conformed to this world” instead of transformed?

Prayer
“Father, I admit that too often I let the world shape my thoughts. Forgive me for giving more time to voices that pull me away from You than to Your Word. Transform me by the renewing of my mind. Use Scripture to expose lies I have believed and to clean out the garbage from my heart. Help me to think in a way that lines up with Your good, acceptable, and perfect will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Action
Choose one specific “input” to limit today (for example: social media, TV, YouTube, or talk radio). Replace at least 15 minutes of that time with reading and meditating on a Bible passage (start with Romans 12). Write down one truth from the passage that corrects a wrong way of thinking.
