Scripture Reading

Romans 12:1–2
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

Devotional

The sermon asked a piercing question: Is God your steering wheel or just your spare tire? Do you turn to Him only when “all four tires go flat,” or does He direct your every mile?

Paul calls us to present our bodies a living sacrifice. That is not a casual gesture—it is total surrender. And he says it is our “reasonable service” in light of God’s mercy. If God is big enough to:

  • Create the universe,
  • Plan your salvation before the world began,
  • Die and rise again to redeem you,
then it is only reasonable that He should own your minutes, your decisions, your ambitions.

“How big is God to you?” can be answered by another question:
“How big a role does God play in your life minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day?”

We often “cap” what God can do in our lives through our small faith and halfway obedience. The bigger God becomes in your heart and mind, the smaller your excuses will become, and the more your life will be transformed.

Reflection

Where does your daily schedule, spending, entertainment, or relationships show that God has a small role instead of the central one? What would change if you truly presented yourself as a living sacrifice?

Prayer

Father,
By Your great mercies, You have saved me, bought me with a price, and called me Your own. I confess that I have often treated You like a spare tire instead of the steering wheel of my life. Today I present myself to You—a living sacrifice. Renew my mind. Break my conformity to this world. Let my life prove what is Your good, acceptable, and perfect will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Action

Make one specific, practical change that puts God first this week:

  • Commit a set time daily for prayer and Scripture.
  • Rearrange your schedule to prioritize worship and fellowship.
  • Adjust your budget to put God first in giving.

Write it down, tell someone you trust, and ask them to hold you accountable. Let this be a tangible step that shows: “My God is big enough to deserve my whole life.”
