Scripture Reading: Colossians 1:16–17 (KJV)
16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
Matthew 14:32–33
32 And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.
33 Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.
The Jesus who walked on the water is not merely a miracle‑worker; He is the Creator and Sustainer of all things. Colossians says all things were created “by him, and for him,” and that “by him all things consist.” The universe with its unthinkable distances, the nearest star trillions of miles away—He holds it all in His hand.
Yet this same Christ stepped into a small, storm‑tossed boat on the Sea of Galilee and calmed the wind with His presence. Immediately, the disciples moved from terror to worship: “Of a truth thou art the Son of God.” Seeing Christ’s power over the storm turned their fear into faith.
This mighty Creator is also the Good Shepherd who leaves the ninety‑nine to seek the one. He calls His church not to stay behind safe walls, but to go after the lost, to leave the comfort of the boat and step into a world that desperately needs Him.
The world may say, “Keep your faith to yourself. Stay in the boat.” But the One who commands the stars has commanded us: “Go.” If He holds galaxies together, He can surely hold you as you step out in obedience to share the gospel, serve the broken, and love the unlovable.
Almighty God,
Creator of heaven and earth, I worship You as the One by whom and for whom all things exist. Thank You that the Lord of the universe cares about me and steps into my little “boat.” Fill me with a fresh sense of Your greatness and Your nearness. Break me out of my comfort and send me after the lost. Give me courage to leave the safety of the four walls and share Christ with those around me. Use my life for Your glory, for You alone are worthy. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Today, act intentionally on Christ’s call to “go”:
Ask the Lord to keep you from being a “boat potato” and to make this the beginning of a lifestyle of stepping out.
