Scripture Reading (KJV)
Romans 8:33–34
“Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth.
Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.”
Devotional
The sermon described a courtroom scene: Satan as the accuser, listing every wrong you’ve ever done; you, standing guilty with filthy garments; and then the doors open—and mercy walks in. Jesus takes your place and says, “Put it on Me.”
Zechariah 3 gives that picture: Joshua the high priest standing in filthy garments, Satan accusing him, and the Lord saying, “The Lord rebuke thee, O Satan… Take away the filthy garments from him… I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.”
That is what happened when you were saved. God justified you—declared you righteous—because of the blood of Jesus Christ. Your record is cleared, not because you never sinned, but because Christ paid for every sin. Satan will still try to condemn you. Your own mind may try to hold you hostage to your past. But the verse is clear: “It is God that justifieth… It is Christ that died… who also maketh intercession for us.”
Jesus is at the right hand of the Father, praying for you, speaking on your behalf, and continually declaring, “That one is Mine. The price is paid.”
You may feel accused, but in Christ, you are not condemned.
Reflection
Prayer
Lord Jesus,
Thank You for dying for my sins, rising again, and interceding for me at the Father’s right hand. Thank You that I am justified, clothed in Your righteousness, and no longer condemned. When Satan accuses me or my own heart condemns me, remind me of Your finished work. Help me to live in the freedom and joy of being fully forgiven. In Your name, Amen.
Action
Write down one sin from your past that still haunts or shames you. Under it, write Romans 8:33–34 and the words: “Paid in full by Jesus Christ.” Then tear up or destroy that paper as a physical reminder that in Christ, that accusation no longer stands.
