Every day, people make trades.
- Time for money
- Integrity for advancement
- Peace for pleasure
Jesus asks a piercing question: if you could gain everything—the whole world—would it be worth losing your soul?
The world offers “glitter”: money, recognition, comfort, relationships, status. Like that shiny bass boat covered in glitter, it catches the eye and pulls the heart. Satan is a master salesman; he doesn’t show the cost, only the shine.
But your soul was made for God. No amount of money, pleasure, or human approval can fill what only Christ can fill. God proved your worth at the cross—He valued your soul so highly that He gave His only begotten Son to save it.
In light of that, any trade you make that pushes Christ aside, diminishes your obedience, or quiets His voice in your life is a bad trade—no matter how “profitable” it looks in the moment.

- What are the main “trades” you are tempted to make right now?
- Where are you tempted to put your career, comfort, entertainment, or reputation above your walk with Christ?
Write one specific area where you sense Satan offering you a shiny “deal.”
Prayer
Lord,
Open my eyes to see the true value of my soul and the emptiness of the world’s promises. Reveal any area where I am trading eternal things for temporary gain. Forgive me for the times I have chosen comfort or sin over obedience to You. Help me to love You more than anything this world can offer. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Action
Take 10 quiet minutes today. Without your phone or TV, list the top three things that occupy most of your thoughts and energy. Then honestly ask: “Are these drawing me closer to Christ or pulling me away from Him?” Put a star beside anything that is pulling you away.
