Scripture Reading: Genesis 2:16-17
"And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."
Devotional:
From the beginning, mankind was created perfect and complete, but sin introduced an "infinite abyss" within us, a longing only God can fill. We often seek fulfillment in worldly things, yet no temporal pleasure can satisfy the depth of our soul's yearning.
Reflection:
Consider what you have been filling your life with in pursuit of happiness. Are these things drawing you closer to or further from God?
Prayer:
Lord, I acknowledge there is an emptiness in me that only You can fill. Help me put aside my earthly distractions and focus on Your eternal love. Amen.
Action:
Identify one thing you've been using to fill God's place in your heart. Choose a day this week to fast from it and spend that time in prayer or scripture reading.
