Scripture Reading

1 Corinthians 6:19–20
“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.”

Devotional

In Isaiah 66, God asked, “Where is the house that ye build unto me?” In the New Testament, He gives His answer: you are that house. Your body is His temple. The same God whose throne is in heaven chooses to dwell in you by His Spirit.

This is staggering.

  • The God we call El Shaddai lives in you.
  • The God who calmed the storm sits on the throne of your heart if you are saved.
  • The God who planned Bethlehem and Calvary now calls your life His dwelling place.

That means:

  • You do not face temptation alone.
  • You do not endure trials alone.
  • You are not asked to serve Him in your own strength.

The sermon said: this is where we “let God show just how big He is to the world.” People should be able to look at your life and say, “Their God must be great, because look what He has done in them.”

Reflection

If your body is God’s temple, what does your daily life say about the One who lives there—about His holiness, His love, His priorities?

Prayer

Holy God,
Thank You for the incredible truth that my body is the temple of the Holy Ghost. Forgive me for the times I have forgotten that I am not my own, and have lived as if my life belongs to me. Help me to glorify You in my body and spirit. Let Your bigness be seen in my attitudes, my words, my choices, and my love for others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Action

Choose one area where your life does not reflect that you belong to God (a habit, an attitude, a relationship, entertainment, etc.). Today, take one concrete step to surrender that area to God—confess it, remove a temptation, change a routine, or make a needed apology.
