“Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.”
There is nowhere we can go where God is not present. We may run from conviction. We may run from a calling. We may run from obedience. We may run from dealing with sin. But we cannot run beyond the reach of God.
The psalmist understood that God’s presence is in heaven, in the depths, in the morning, and in the farthest parts of the sea. Wherever we go, God is already there.
For those living in rebellion, that truth brings conviction. For those who are hurting, it brings comfort. God’s hand can lead us, and His right hand can hold us. Even when we have gone the wrong direction, God is able to bring us back.
Revival often begins when we stop running and surrender. Maybe God has been dealing with you about something for a long time. Maybe He has called you to obedience, service, forgiveness, or repentance. The question is not whether God can find you. The question is: will you stop running?
Is there an area where you have been resisting God’s leadership?
Lord, I cannot flee from Your presence. You see me, You know me, and You still call me to Yourself. Forgive me for running from You. Lead me with Your hand and hold me with Your right hand. Help me surrender fully to Your will. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Identify one act of obedience you have delayed. Take one practical step today toward obeying God in that area.
