Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 17:45, 49 KJV

“Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.”

“And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead…”

Devotional

David did not come to Goliath with impressive armor. He came with a sling, a stone, and faith in the living God.

To others, David looked too young, too small, and too unqualified. To Goliath, he looked like a joke. But David knew the battle belonged to the Lord.

The stone was small, but God used it to bring down a giant.

You may be facing something that feels like Goliath—fear, temptation, grief, sickness, financial pressure, family trouble, or spiritual discouragement. But the size of the giant is not greater than the strength of your God.

God can use small obedience, small faith, small prayers, and small steps to win great victories.

Reflection

What “giant” are you facing? What small step of faith is God calling you to take?

Prayer

Lord of hosts, remind me that the battle belongs to You. Give me courage like David to trust You, even when the enemy seems too big and I feel too small. Amen.

Action

Take one step of obedience today toward facing your “giant”—pray, confess, ask for help, forgive, give, serve, or stand firm in faith.
