Scripture Reading: Colossians 3:1-2 (KJV)

“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.”

Devotional

A distracted mind becomes a discouraged mind. When we dwell constantly on the brokenness of this world, our problems, our past, and our fears, we can quickly become weary and hopeless.

Paul tells believers to seek those things which are above. This does not mean we ignore life’s responsibilities. It means our hearts and minds must be anchored in Christ. We are to view life through eternity, not merely through temporary circumstances.

Your past does not have to control your thoughts. Your failures do not have to define your identity. Your fears do not have to rule your decisions. If you are risen with Christ, your life is now hidden with Him.

When your mind is set on earthly things, you will be shaken by earthly troubles. But when your affection is set on Christ, you can have peace, hope, and stability even in difficult days.

Reflection

What earthly concern has occupied too much of your mind lately?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, lift my eyes above the temporary things of this world. Help me set my affection on You. Remind me that my life is hidden with Christ and that my hope is secure in You. Amen.

Action

When worry or discouragement comes today, pause and say aloud: “My mind belongs to Christ. My hope is in Him.”
