Jeremiah 18:7-8
“At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it;
If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.”
Devotional
God warned Judah through Jeremiah, but His warning was also an invitation. Judgment was coming because of their sin, but if they would repent, God would show mercy.
Repentance is not just feeling bad because consequences have come. True repentance is turning from evil and returning to God. It is agreeing with God about our sin and yielding ourselves again to His will.
When a believer becomes stubborn, prideful, or disobedient, the heart can begin to harden. A hardened heart is dangerous because it resists the very hands that are trying to restore it.
But God is merciful. He calls us to return. He does not delight in destroying. He desires to reshape and restore. When we humble ourselves, confess our sin, and surrender again, the Potter can make something beautiful from what has been marred.
Reflection
Is there any sin, attitude, bitterness, or disobedience I need to repent of today?
Prayer
God, search my heart. Show me anything in my life that is displeasing to You. I do not want to be hardened by sin or pride. I repent and ask You to cleanse me, restore me, and make me useful again. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Action
Spend time in quiet confession today. If God reveals something specific, repent immediately and take one step to make it right.
