Scripture Reading - 2 Corinthians 6:2 (KJV)

“For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”

Devotional

Felix heard the truth from Paul. He heard about righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come. The Word of God pierced his heart so strongly that Scripture says he trembled. Yet instead of surrendering, he said, “Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee.”

That is one of the most dangerous responses a person can give to God: “Not now.”

Many people believe they will get right with God later. Later, when life slows down. Later, when they are older. Later, when they have had their fun. Later, when it is more convenient.

But salvation is not on man’s timetable. God says, “Now is the accepted time.” The Holy Spirit’s conviction is a gift of mercy. When God deals with the heart, that is the time to respond.

The tragedy of procrastination is that “later” is never promised. Life is short. Time is passing. Eternity is coming. To delay obedience to God is to presume upon a tomorrow that may never arrive.

Reflection

Are you putting off something God is calling you to do today? If you are lost, are you waiting for a “better time” to be saved? If you are saved, are you delaying obedience, surrender, or repentance?

Prayer

Lord, help me not to take Your mercy for granted. When You speak, help me to listen. When You convict, help me to respond. Remove every excuse from my heart. Teach me to obey You today, not someday. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Action

Take five quiet minutes today and ask: “Lord, what have I been putting off?” Write it down, then take one step of obedience before the day ends.
