“O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me.
Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.
Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.
For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.”
Revival begins when we stop pretending we can hide anything from God. The psalmist says, “O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me.” God already knows our thoughts, our words, our habits, our motives, and our sins. He knows what we have done, what we have left undone, and what we have tried to keep in the dark.
Sometimes we act as if we can tuck sin away in a spiritual closet and hope God does not notice. But God sees everything. That may sound frightening at first, but for the believer, it is also freeing. We do not have to keep hiding. We can come honestly before the Lord and say, “God, You already know. I confess it. Forgive me. Cleanse me.”
Revival will not come through pretending. It comes through confession, repentance, and surrender. When we bring our sin into the light of God’s holiness, we also bring it into the reach of His mercy.
What have you been trying to hide from God, even though He already knows it?
Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know my thoughts, my words, my actions, and my heart. Help me stop hiding from You. Show me anything in my life that is displeasing to You. Give me a humble heart to confess it and turn from it. Prepare me for revival. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Write down one sin, habit, attitude, or area of disobedience that God brings to your mind. Confess it honestly to Him today.
