Scripture Reading: Matthew 5:14-16 (KJV)

“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick;
and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works,
and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

Devotional

The sermon asked a sobering question: could our life as Christians be leading someone the wrong way?

People are watching. Lost family members are watching. Friends are watching. Coworkers are watching. Children are watching. The world may not read the Bible, but they will read the lives of those who claim to believe it.

This does not mean Christians must pretend to be perfect. But it does mean we must be serious about following Christ. A careless Christian life can confuse others about the gospel. If we speak of Jesus but live like the world, our testimony is weakened.

Paul stood before rulers and used every opportunity to point them to Christ. He did not waste his platform. He did not hide his faith. He told what Jesus had done for him.

Every Christian has a testimony. Every Christian has influence. Every Christian is called to shine.

The question is: are we pointing people toward Christ or away from Him?

Reflection

If someone judged Christianity by your life this past week, what would they believe about Jesus?

Prayer

Father, help my life to bring glory to You. Forgive me for the times I have been careless with my testimony. Make me bold like Paul. Let my words, attitudes, choices, and actions point others to Jesus Christ. In His name, amen.

Action

Share your testimony with one person this week. It can be simple: tell them what Jesus has done for you and why they need Him too.
