Scripture Reading: Colossians 1:26–28 (KJV)
26 Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:
27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.
Romans 10:14
14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
Devotional
In the sermon, the pastor described a king’s “herald”—the one who goes out and proclaims the king’s words to the people. That’s exactly what Paul saw himself as: a servant entrusted with the mystery of the Gospel, “Christ in you, the hope of glory.”
But Paul didn’t believe he alone was the herald. Every believer who has Christ living in them has this same message to share. We are not called to keep Jesus a private secret while loudly sharing sports scores, weather complaints, and gossip. We are called to “preach, warning every man, and teaching every man,” so that people can be presented mature in Christ.
Romans 10 confronts us: if we don’t speak, how will they hear? If they don’t hear, how will they believe? We marvel that the world doesn’t know it needs Jesus, but the truth is many will never know unless someone tells them—and that someone is often meant to be you or me.
Reflection
Prayer
Lord Jesus, You are my hope of glory. Thank You for living in me by Your Spirit. Forgive me for being bold about worldly things and silent about You. Give me a burden for those who are lost, and open my eyes to opportunities to speak. Fill my mouth with truth and love, and let me be a faithful herald of my King. In Your name I pray, Amen.
