Scripture Reading (KJV)

  • Titus 2:11–12
    11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
    12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

  • 2 Peter 3:18
    18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

  • John 15:5
    5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Devotional

Grace not only saves you; it schools you. According to Titus 2, the same grace that brings salvation also teaches us. Grace is not a license to live however we please; it is God’s power at work, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts and to live soberly, righteously, and godly in the middle of “this present evil world.”

To “grow in grace” means to keep learning from God’s kindness. The more you see how patient, merciful, and holy He is, the more you desire to be like Him. This is not about impressing God; it is about responding to His love.

Jesus reminds us in John 15 that without Him we can do nothing. We cannot grow ourselves by sheer willpower. Just as a branch can only bear fruit by staying connected to the vine, we grow as we abide in Christ—through His Word, prayer, obedience, and fellowship with His people.

If you are not growing, you are drifting. Grace calls you higher, deeper, closer.

Reflection

  • Where do I see evidence of growth in my spiritual life over the last year?
  • Is there an area where I have resisted God’s teaching grace—clinging to old habits or worldly desires?

Prayer

Gracious Father, I thank Thee that Thy grace not only saved me, but also teaches me how to live. I confess that at times I have resisted Thy dealings with me and held on to ungodliness and worldly lusts. Forgive me. Help me to grow in grace and in the knowledge of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Teach me to abide in Christ, for without Him I can do nothing. Make my life fruitful for Thy glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Action

Choose one specific area where you sense God calling you to “deny ungodliness or worldly lusts” (e.g., entertainment, speech, attitude, relationships). Make a concrete change today (remove an unhelpful app, set a boundary, start a new holy habit) as a step of obedience to God’s teaching grace.
