Jeremiah 18:5-6
“Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD.
Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.”
Devotional
The potter’s hands are never careless. As the wheel turns, his hands remain close to the clay. He applies pressure where needed. He supports weak places. He guides the shape. He keeps the clay from flying off the wheel.
So it is with God. Life keeps turning. Circumstances change. Trials come. Temptations rise. We face burdens, decisions, grief, and uncertainty. But through it all, God’s hands remain faithful.
Sometimes His pressure may feel uncomfortable. He may convict us, correct us, or lead us away from something we desire. But His hands are not working to harm us. They are shaping us.
The clay may not understand every movement of the potter’s hand, but the potter knows what he is doing. God sees the finished vessel when we only see the spinning wheel.
Reflection
Can I trust God’s hands even when I do not understand what He is doing?
Prayer
Father, thank You that my life is in Your hands. When circumstances spin around me, remind me that You are still near. Help me not to pull away from Your touch, even when Your correction is uncomfortable. Shape me for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Action
Write down one difficult circumstance you are facing. Beside it, write: “God’s hands are still on me.” Pray over that situation today.
