“And there came a fire out from before the LORD, and consumed upon the altar the burnt offering and the fat: which when all the people saw, they shouted, and fell on their faces.”
Devotional
The priests prepared the altar, but God sent the fire.
That distinction matters.
We cannot manufacture the true fire of God. We can create noise, activity, programs, excitement, and emotion—but only God can send holy fire. Only God can bring true revival. Only God can ignite a heart with His power.
In Leviticus, when everything was done according to God’s command, fire came out from before the Lord. The people saw it, shouted, and fell on their faces.
When God’s fire falls, people notice. Reverence returns. Worship becomes real. Sin is exposed. Hearts are humbled. Lives are changed.
The church today does not need artificial excitement. We need the fire of God.
And that fire comes from Him.
Our responsibility is preparation, obedience, surrender, and faithfulness. God’s responsibility is the power.
Reflection
Think about this:
- Am I depending on God’s power or my own effort?
- Am I seeking spiritual excitement or true holiness?
- Do I want God’s fire enough to surrender fully to Him?
The fire of God is not for show. It is for sacrifice, holiness, worship, and witness.
Prayer
Lord, I cannot create revival in my own strength. I cannot set my own soul on fire apart from You. I ask You to send Your fire into my heart, my home, and my church. Let it not be emotional only, but holy, lasting, and real. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Action
Pray specifically today for revival—first in your own heart, then in your family, then in your church. Ask God to do what only He can do.
