“How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!
If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.”
Revival begins when God becomes more than an occasional thought. The psalmist said, “How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God!” His mind was filled with the greatness, goodness, and presence of the Lord.
One sign that we are ready for revival is that our thoughts begin to turn toward God more and more. We wake up thinking about Him. We go through the day depending on Him. We end the day thanking Him. God becomes the center, not the leftover.
Many times, our minds are crowded with worry, frustration, entertainment, fear, bitterness, and distraction. But when our minds are fixed on the Lord, those things lose their power. We do not have as much room for sin when our hearts and minds are full of God.
The preacher reminded us that God never intended for us to get saved and stay where we are spiritually. He wants us to grow deeper. He wants us to mature. He wants us to move from shallow thoughts to deeper fellowship with Him.
If we want revival, we must ask: Is God truly first in my thoughts, my schedule, my desires, and my decisions?
What occupies your mind the most throughout the day? Is God your priority, or has He been pushed to the background?
Lord, help me to think on You more. Let Your Word fill my mind and Your presence guide my day. Forgive me for allowing distractions, worries, and selfish desires to take first place in my heart. Teach me to love Your thoughts and seek Your will. Make You the priority of my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Take 10 minutes today to sit quietly with your Bible open to Psalm 139. Read verses 17-18 slowly, then write down three thoughts about God that are precious to you.
