Scripture Reading: John 8:36 (KJV)

“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”

Devotional

Many people think following Christ is only about restrictions. They see God’s commands as a list of things that take away joy. But the truth is the opposite: obedience to Christ brings freedom.

Sin promises freedom but produces bondage. Coveting, anger, lust, bitterness, pride, and fear all begin in the mind and eventually enslave the heart. But Jesus sets us free—not only from the penalty of sin, but also from sin’s power over our thoughts and lives.

Freedom in Christ means you no longer have to be ruled by your past. You no longer have to believe every lie Satan speaks into your mind. You no longer have to follow every desire that rises within you. You belong to Jesus, and He is able to renew, restore, and redirect your mind.

The Christian life is not about being trapped by rules. It is about walking daily with the Saviour who loves you, forgives you, corrects you, and transforms you.

True freedom is found when Christ controls the mind and leads the life.

Reflection

Where do you need to experience the freedom of Christ in your thoughts today?

Prayer

Jesus, thank You for making me free. Break the power of sinful thoughts, worldly distractions, and old patterns in my life. Teach me to walk in the freedom of Your truth every day. Amen.

Action

Spend five minutes today in quiet prayer, asking God to reveal one thought pattern He wants to renew. Surrender it to Him and replace it with a verse of Scripture.
