Scripture Reading: Proverbs 28:13 KJV

“He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.”

Devotional

God gives a clear warning and a clear promise in this verse. The warning is this: “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper.” The promise is this: “Whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.”

We cannot hide sin and expect revival. We cannot cover disobedience and expect spiritual blessing. God is merciful, but He calls us to be honest.

Confession means we agree with God about our sin. We stop making excuses. We stop blaming others. We stop pretending it is not serious. We bring it into the light before the Lord.

But the verse does not only say “confesseth.” It also says “forsaketh.” That means we must turn away from sin. Real repentance is more than feeling bad. It is surrendering to God and choosing His way instead of our own.

The beautiful truth is that mercy is available. God is not waiting for us to confess so He can destroy us. He calls us to confess so He can forgive, cleanse, and restore us.

Revival is not brought by a preacher, a singer, or a meeting on the calendar. Revival comes from the Lord when His people humble themselves, confess their sins, turn from them, and seek Him sincerely.

Are we ready for revival? We are ready when we stop hiding, start confessing, and fully surrender to God.

Reflection

Is there anything you have confessed with your mouth but have not truly forsaken with your life?

Prayer

Father, I do not want to cover my sin. I want to confess it and forsake it. Forgive me for the times I have hidden things from You, excused my disobedience, or resisted Your conviction. Thank You for Your mercy. Cleanse me, restore me, and prepare my heart for revival. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Action

Today, take one practical step to forsake a sin God has revealed to you. This may mean removing a temptation, apologizing to someone, asking for accountability, changing a habit, or making something right.

Then pray: “Lord, let revival begin in me.”
