“Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.”
Devotional
In the Old Testament, the priests had responsibility connected to the altar, the sacrifices, and the fire. But in Christ, believers are called “an holy priesthood.” That means every saved person has a spiritual responsibility before God.
The fire is not just for the church building.
We are called to carry it with us.
Carry it into our homes. Carry it to work. Carry it into conversations. Carry it through trials. Carry it when people are watching and when no one is watching. Carry it when life is easy and when Satan tries to throw water on the flame.
The world does not need Christians who only appear spiritual on Sunday. The world needs believers who burn with the love, truth, holiness, and compassion of Jesus every day.
A church on fire is made up of people on fire.
If we want to see lost people saved, families restored, churches revived, and communities changed, the fire must be more than a service. It must become a life.
Reflection
Consider:
- Do people around me see the fire of God in my life?
- Am I carrying Christ into my daily world?
- Is my faith visible, active, and contagious?
Someone may need to see Jesus through you today.
Prayer
Lord, make me a faithful witness. Let Your fire burn in me beyond the walls of the church. Use my words, actions, attitude, and love to point others to Jesus. Help me carry Your light into dark places and never be ashamed of You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Action
Look for one opportunity today to carry the fire—encourage someone, pray with someone, invite someone to church, share your testimony, or show Christlike kindness in a specific way.
