Scripture Reading — Acts 26:27-28 (KJV)

“King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest.
Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.”

Devotional

King Agrippa heard Paul’s testimony. Paul told him about meeting Jesus on the road to Damascus. He spoke of Christ’s suffering, death, and resurrection. He declared the truth boldly.

Agrippa understood more than many. He knew the prophets. He had knowledge of Scripture. He was close to the truth.

But close is not saved.

Agrippa said, “Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.” Those are tragic words. Almost persuaded. Almost convinced. Almost ready. Almost saved.

But almost saved is still completely lost.

A person may be religious and lost. A person may know Bible facts and still be lost. A person may admire Jesus and still be lost. A person may sit in church, hear sermons, feel conviction, and still never surrender to Christ.

Salvation requires more than being near the truth. It requires receiving Christ by faith. It requires repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

Do not settle for “almost.” Do not live near the door of salvation and never enter in.

Reflection

Are you trusting in being close to Christianity, or are you truly trusting in Christ? Is your faith personal, surrendered, and real?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, I do not want to be almost persuaded. I do not want to be near the truth and miss salvation. Help me to fully trust You, fully surrender to You, and fully follow You. Save me from empty religion and half-hearted faith. In Your name, amen.

Action

Write out your personal testimony. If you are saved, describe when and how you trusted Christ. If you cannot clearly say that you have been born again, speak with a pastor or mature Christian today.
